The fibrinogen protein
Fibrinogen has double function: yielding monomers that polymrize into fibrin
and acting as a cofactor in platelet aggregation. Variation in position
Arg35 (the site of cleavage of fibrinopeptide A by thrombin) leads to alpha-dysfibrogenemias.
Its fragments may cause hereditary renal amyloidosis. Our SWISSPROT sequences
are here,
the result of the multiple sequnce alignment is here.
